Adventure activities are available for
single and half days. Activity days are ideal for Summer Activity
programmes where you would like to provide pupils with the opportunity
to take part in a variety of adventurous activities, but do not want
the expense, logistics or commitment of a residential.
Individual activity sessions can be tailored to provide a taster session,
or progression through nationally recognised competence based assessment
programmes, such as the BCU Star Award Scheme.
In addition, multiple single-day programmes can be run over a period
of time, leading up to an expedition or residential experience.
The single-day sessions enable the participants to gain the confidence
and skills required to get the most from more technical or longer
periods of adventure. For example, learning to canoe on flat and
slow moving water for a number of days would provide young people
with the skills and confidence to take part in a 3 day / 2 night
canoe camping trip in the Lake District or Scotland, and single
day walking and navigation sessions would enable young people to
embark on a UK mountain expedition involving wild camps.
Single day programmes can be run throughout the year at a variety
of venues and each day can include two activity sessions, e.g. rock
climbing in the morning, kayaking in the afternoon.
Single day programmes can also be linked to provide a week of activities,
without overnight accommodation, enabling the participants to pick
and choose their activities throughout the week.
Single-day programmes can also be used as a reward for good behaviour,
achievement, attendance, or as an integral part of a wider programme.
