| Hill Walking Mountain days with a guide enable you to take in the view, without having to worry about navigation. Classic routes such as Helvellyn, Inglebrough, Scafell and Scafell Pike, The Glyders, Snowdon are available as well as a massive range of other hills and mountains throughout the UK. Hill walking days can often form part a Navigation training course. Rock Scrambling The area between hill-walking and rock climbing is covered by rock scrambling. Often involving a mountain walk with sections of steep group, where the scrambler will be required to use their hands as well as their feet. From relatively easy Grade I scrambles that provide you with a sense of exposure, but on relatively safe ground, to Grade III adventures where ropes are required and some rock climbing skills are an advantage. The variety of scrambles available in the UK is immense, often routes have ‘easier’ options which allows you to challenge yourself, without being committed. Each scramble adventure begins with a walk-in, and instruction on the basic techniques of scrambling at the appropriate grade. Navigation Learning and developing the skills to navigate your way around the hills, moors, fells and mountains of the UK enables you to travel in these areas with confidence. Specific skills session looking at map reading, compass work and trying it out on the hill. Covers pacing and aiming off, as well as attack points and handrails. Can be linked with the National Navigation Award. |
