Kayaking and Canoeing is available in a variety of recreational formats. Rock Steady offer both flat water and white water taster and training days and courses.

There is also an emersion weekend designed to transform a complete beginner from never having paddled before, to a confident 1* trained level.

Open Canoe Camping

Starting at Howsham Wier, you will take in a day trip up to Kirkham Priory, receiving 1* tuition on the way up stream. You will spend a night camping on a small island canoe camping, using tarp and the canoe to build a makeshift shelter. As this is an emersion weekend you will learn how to be self sufficient building fires and camp cooking using traditional methods. This will involve green stick roasting and baking using moss.

The return journey will encourage you to remember the skills learnt the day before, and then complete the 1* training, then chance to shoot Howsham Wier if the water is at a safe level.
